Man rammed family’s vehicle during road rage incident; tries to run them over, investigators say

Detectives with the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office charged a 69-year-old East Mesa man with nine counts of Aggravated Assault after he allegedly tried to run over a group of people with his vehicle.

Robert Quigley, who investigators say lives on Kangaroo Court, originally called 911 to report he had been involved in a physical altercation.

Detectives later learned Quigley had allegedly rammed another vehicle after an alleged road-rage incident on Holman Road near Shoestring Ranch. Investigators said it happened April 21, 2017 at about 9 a.m.

A man and a pregnant woman said they were traveling together in a truck with a small child in the backseat when Quigley allegedly ran them off the road.

The victims said Quigley later drove by the victims’ truck again, this time hitting the driver’s side door.

Investigators said Quigley called 911 to report he had been involved in a physical altercation at the same location after the victim allegedly hit Quigley in the face. The victims called 911 at the same time to report they had been involved in a hit-and-run.

Quigley was arrested and transported to the Doña Ana County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond.

Quigley is also charged with Criminal Damage to Property, Child Abuse, and nine counts of Aggravated Assault.

The victims in the truck were not charged, investigators said.
