Traffic stop leads to arrest, driver allegedly in possession of Hashish and Xanax

The police department’s Gang Unit arrested and charged a man with two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance.

Adam Joshua Frias, 23, was allegedly in possession of Hashish (Tetrahydrocannabinols) and Xanax (Alprazolam).

Police made the discovery during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon in Northeast El Paso.

Frias was driving a Honda Ridgeline on the 8500 block of Dyer. A police officer with the Gang Unit pulled Frias over because Frias was talking on a cell phone while driving.

The officer allegedly smelled burning marijuana coming from inside the Honda.

During a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly found a pill bottle that contained 1.1 grams of Hashish and 65.5 Xanax pills.

Frias was booked into the County Jail on bonds totaling $4,500.
