Aaron Jones makes preseason debut for Green Bay Packers
The Packers won their preseason debut, 24-9, over the Eagles, but former UTEP running back Aaron Jones saw little action.
Jones recorded two carries for zero yards and had one reception that didn’t tally any yardage either. But, then again, no Packers running back really got a chance to make a big impression.
No running back carried the ball more than four times for Green Bay, which threw the ball twice as much as they ran it (36 passing plays vs. 18 rushing attempts).
The 18 total rushing attempts were split amongst five different backs and the three quarterbacks who played for the Packers.
Jamaal Williams, a rookie running back taken in the 4th round by Green Bay, led all Packers running backs with a mere 14 yards. Quarterback Taysom Hill also tallied 14 yards rushing.
The Packers will continue preseason play on the road against the Washington Redskins on Aug. 19.
Aaron Rodgers did not play in the Green Bay victory, while the Eagles opted to play their starting quarterback, Carson Wentz, sparingly. Wentz threw only four passes, but completed all four for 56 yards and a touchdown.
