Hundreds gather for funeral of slain Dallas police officer
Hundreds of law enforcement officers from across the country are gathering for the funeral of a Dallas police who was shot while confronting a suspected shoplifter.
The public funeral for Officer Rogelio Santander is being held Tuesday at a church in the Dallas suburb of Rockwall. Burial will follow at a cemetery on the northern outskirts of Dallas.
Another police officer and a store employee were injured in the April 27 shooting at a Home Depot store in northern Dallas. Police Chief U. Renee Hall says both are recovering.
The suspect in the shooting is Armando Luis Juarez. He’s been charged with capital murder and is being held at the Dallas County jail on a bond in excess of $4 million.
