El Paso, Las Cruces ranked low on best cities for singles to meet

El Paso and Las Cruces rank low in the list of best places for single people to meet, according to apartment rental website Zumper.com.

The site compared all 382 U.S. metro areas, as determined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, across five key metrics: bars and restaurants, college degrees, internet use or access for dating apps, average rental prices, and singles in the area.

El Paso was ranked 265 with 68 percent of the population single. The site says the percentage of the single population with a Bachelor’s degree or higher is 16 percent. El Paso has 22.2 restaurants and bars per capita and the average price of a one-bedroom rental is $630. The city has 74 percent accessibility to dating apps. So, Zumper gave El Paso a letter grade of “F” for its rank on its list.

Over in Las Cruces, that area ranked 283 on the list. Zumper says 73 percent of the population there is single and within that group, only 15 percent have a Bachelor’s degree or higher. There are reportedly 16.9 restaurants and bars per capita with 67 percent accessibility to dating apps. The average price of a one-bedroom rental in Las Cruces is $620. Zumper also gave Las Cruces an “F.”

The metro areas making the top five were Boulder, CO, Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA and NH, Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, CT, Champaign-Urbana, IL and the Pittsfield, MA Metro Area.
