Las Cruces Public Schools give away new car for stellar attendance

The Las Cruces Public School District gave away a brand new car Thursday evening to a student who has had 90 percent attendance or better in the past school year.

The winner of the giveaway was Hannah Straley, a junior at Arrowhead Park Early College High School.

It’s part of the tenth annual “Count Me In!” event at the Field of Dreams, where students enjoyed free food and entertainment. The car is a 2018 Toyota Yaris.

The event was free and open to all high school students in the district, regardless of if they meet the 90 percent threshold to qualify for the car.
