Santa Teresa Golfer is first ever to place at state level

Santa Teresa High School senior Samuel Rodriguez makes school history, as the first to place at the

state golf tournament. He is this week’s Community Champion, sponsored by Southwest University.

Rodriguez came in 5th place, and also received an All-District award for placing top 5 in the NMAA 5A division.

Congratulations to Rodriguez, for representing the Gadsden Independent School District so well! He is coached by Steven Meitler, of STHS.

We are told he is an avid golfer, practicing every spare minute he gets.

He shot a 75 both days of competition at state. He also qualified for the state tournament last year.
