EPPD: Teen shared nude photos of minor on social media; charged with child porn
An El Paso teenager is facing child pornography charges after she allegedly posted nude photos of a female minor on social media.
Luz Paola Aranda, 18, is charged with Promotion and Possession of Child Pornography.
Detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit began their investigation when nude images of a minor were posted and distributed through Facebook and Instagram accounts allegedly belonging to Aranda.
Police said the investigation revealed the victim was underage when the photos were taken.
Aranda obtained the images and posted them on the social media accounts with the message, “who wants to see free nudes,” police said.
Police further allege Aranda created new accounts and reposted the images after the social media networks closed the original accounts with the nude images.
Aranda allegedly encouraged others to share and repost the nude images, police said.
Detectives are reminding the public to exercise due caution to keep from viewing, possessing, re-posting or sharing questionable images.
Aranda was charged with five counts each of Possession of Child Pornography and Promotion of Child Pornography and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under bonds totaling $750,000.
