Faith Christian baseball team wins state title in TAPPS

The Faith Christian baseball team is a state champion yet again!

The Lions defeated First Baptist Christian from Pasadena, TX by a final score of 9-0 Friday night in the TAPPS Division IV state championship game.

This was the first year the Lions competed in TAPPS after winning three consecutive titles in TCAL.

Roberto Frayre got things started with a two-run homer in the first inning to open the scoring. His teammates met him for a celebration at home plate after he rounded the bases. The Lions would never look back.

Pitcher Matthew Paz struck out ten batters in seven innings of work and added two hits of his own at the dish.

It’s been a good 2018 for Faith so far. The school’s basketball team won a state title in TAPPS earlier this year with a 29-point victory in the title game.
