KGNS: FBI investigating alleged shooting involving Border Patrol agents

KGNS in Laredo reports the FBI is investigating an alleged shooting involving Border Patrol agents in the town of Rio Bravo. The station reports a woman is dead and three undocumented immigrants are in custody.

In a Facebook live, woman named Martha V. Martinez accused Border Patrol agents of shooting a woman in the head. Martinez is overheard saying the woman is dead.

KGNS reports Border Patrol officials confirmed agents did use a service weapon during the incident, reported at about 1 p.m. Wednesday. A group of agents investigating illegal activity near a culvert were allegedly attacked with blunt objects, KGNS reports.

The NBC affiliate reports an agent fired at least one round from his service weapon, striking and killing one of those allegedly involved in the attack.

In Martinez’s Facebook live, you can see Border Patrol agents detaining two men while Martinez accuses them of shooting and killing the woman near her property.

Paramedics arrive at the scene and Martinez points them in the direction of the woman’s body.

In a second Facebook live video, Martinez is overheard saying paramedics were performing CPR on the woman. A helicopter is seen hovering over the scene, but it is unclear whether it was their to airlift the woman to a hospital or merely helping investigators look for other suspects.
