Humane Society of El Paso to go virtual for 31st Annual K-9 Classic Walk/Run

EL PASO, Texas -- The Humane Society of El Paso isn’t letting a pandemic stop them from honoring and remembering Veterans and their K-9s this Memorial Day.

"Although Covid-19 has presented its set of challenges when planning this event, we’ve been able to adjust and adapt our signature event of 30 plus years to go virtual for the first time,” said Samantha Cortez, community relations coordinator for The Humane Society of El Paso.

"So because we are unable to gather and celebrate at local parks, this year we would like to encourage our supporters and participants to complete their walk anytime, any day between May 23rd through May 30th," said Cortez.

Participants are encouraged to register online for this years 31st Annual K-9 Classic “A Walk for Animals.” The first 50 registrations will receive an exclusive HSEP K-9 Classic t-shirt.

“This year in memory and in honor of Memorial Day we will be giving $5 of each registration fee to Working Dogs For Vets. It is a program that provides for service dogs in training to disabled heroes in need, while also empowering them to return to civilian life with a new found independence," said Cortez.
