High School Baseball Playoffs: Clint falls to Andrews in game one; Tornillo splits with Littlefield

Clint falls to Andrews, 9-5 in game one of regional quarterfinal series

EL PASO, Texas - Only three El Paso area teams are left in the hunt for a state title in baseball, Clint, Riverside and Tornillo.

Thursday, two of those teams took the field to begin their best of three series in the regional quarterfinals.

In Class 4A it was the Clint Lions taking on the Andrews Mustangs, while in Class 3A Tornillo began their series against Littlefield.

A victory in this round will lead to a spot in the sweet 16 of the playoffs.

The scores below are from Thursday:

CLASS 4A REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL

Andrews 9 Clint 5 (Game one final, best of 3) - Andrews leads series (1-0) - Game two and game three (if necessary) Saturday in Alpine, TX.

CLASS 3A REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL

Tornillo 1 Littlefield 4 (Game one final, best of 3)

Tornillo 10 Littlefield 1 (Game two final, best of 3) Series is tied at (1-1) - the deciding game three will be played Saturday in Monahans, TX.

Riverside will begin their best of three series against Lubbock Estacado Friday in Fort Stockton, TX.
