EL PASO, Texas -- A 29-year-old Georgia man has been arrested for a series of aggravated robberies that took place at four east El Paso gas stations on Sunday.

Gerald Lavert Dunn of Eatonton, Georgia was being held Monday in the El Paso County Detention Facility on $300,000 bond.

Police said they believe Dunn is the robber who held-up a Shell gas station at 8800 Viscount and Hawkins Boulevard, a Chevron at 7450 Gateway Boulevard East and Hunter Drive, a 7-Eleven at 1811 Hunter Drive, and a Circle K at 6095 Montana. All the robberies happened between 9:50 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

A witness told ABC-7 the robber was about 6 feet tall, wearing a ski mask and tracksuit when he walked up to the register at the Chevron took out a bag and handed him a note.

"I reach for the note and I read it and it said 'this is a robbery, please put everything in the bag," said the witness, Jorge Garcia. "So then I look up to look at him and I said no and he looks confused and he had his hand in his pocket and I guess he was trying to intimidate me but I said no again."

"I'm not sure why I said no, to be honest," Garcia continued. "At the end of the day it's those kind of people who want to intimidate people and cause chaos and I guess I wasn't having it."

Garcia said the robber walked out of the convenience store, took off his ski mask, sat in his car for several minutes. He said he saw the robber drive off to the 7-Eleven on Hunter Drive.

An employee at the Shell station told ABC-7 the robber left there with about $100.

Witnesses said the robber drove a navy blue Chevy Malibu with Georgia license plates. Police said they later found that car parked in a lot at the Super 8 hotel at 7100 Gateway East and arrested Dunn as he walked back to the car.
