El Paso reports 2 new virus deaths; triple-digit increase in new cases

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The coronavirus death toll in El Paso County now stands at 122.

The Department of Public Health announced two new deaths and 124 new cases on Tuesday morning.

The latest victims were identified as a man and a woman, both in their 70s with underlying health conditions.

There have now been 4,677 confirmed cases, with 3,301 known recoveries.

That leaves 1,254 active cases, which is a slight increase from the day before and remains at its highest number since the pandemic arrived in El Paso. Active cases have risen by 499 since Saturday.

Hospitalizations stayed the same at 95, but the number of patients on ventilators decreased from 18 to 13.
