El Paso Police suspect teen was speeding, not wearing a seatbelt at the time of crash

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- According to El Paso Police, 18-year-old Dante Gaddiel Luna was killed in a single-vehicle crash in east El Paso Tuesday.

Officers and fire medical personnel responded to a rollover crash at the 9400 block of Montwood.

Investigators said Luna lost control of the car at a curve and veered right, driving west on Montwood in the left lane.

As a result, Luna struck several wooden barriers and rolled over.

Investigators suspect speed was a contributing factor in the crash and said Luna was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the vehicle.

Luna was the driver and sole occupant of the car.

This is the 26th traffic death of the year as compared to 29 at this time last year.

Luna was a senior at Eastwood High School. His graduation was scheduled for June 6.
