EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A familiar face is coming home to help lead UTEP golf.

El Paso native and Coronado High School graduate Jackson Norwich has been named an assistant coach for the Miners’ men’s and women’s golf programs, UTEP announced Monday.

Norwich graduated from Coronado in 2021 before continuing his playing career at the University of Arizona. He competed in more than 20 collegiate tournaments from 2021 to 2025 and finished his career with a 74.03 scoring average.

After his playing career, Norwich stayed with Arizona as a student assistant coach during the 2025-26 season. The Wildcats advanced to the semifinals of match play at the NCAA Championship and finished third nationally.

Now, Norwich is bringing that experience back to his hometown.

“Jackson brings a wealth of knowledge, not only from his collegiate playing and coaching career, but also from being from El Paso,” UTEP men’s golf head coach Aaron Puetz said. “His local knowledge will help us immensely in our continued effort to connect to the community and our donors.”

Norwich was one of El Paso’s top high school golfers. As a senior at Coronado, he won the 2021 Texas 6A individual district championship and was named an El Paso Times All-City selection.

He also posted a career-low 67 during the 2022-23 season at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate and carded a 54-hole score of 208 at the tournament in 2021-22.

Norwich graduated from Arizona in May with a degree in business administration.

His new role gives him the opportunity to develop the next generation of Miners while also helping UTEP strengthen its connection with the El Paso golf community.

“I'm excited to welcome Jackson back to El Paso and to our program,” Puetz said.

Norwich will assist with both the UTEP men’s and women’s golf programs.
