Horizon worker sentenced to 5 years for setting up shell companies, embezzling $10 million

HORIZON, Texas (KVIA) -- A judge sentenced Ricardo Robles to five years in prison Thursday. Robles was convicted of embezzling almost $10 million.

The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas, Jaime Esparza, tells ABC-7 that Robles will also have to pay $9.8 million in restitution for wire fraud.

Court documents obtained by ABC-7 state Robles worked for a company purchasing goods from suppliers. Investigators with the FBI say Robles created sham companies, using them to purchase goods, inflate the prices, then resell the goods to his boss, diverting the extra money to his personal accounts.

Robles lives in Horizon. Read our initial report here.
