Large Turnout For Texas Primary Elections

EL PASO — County Elections Director JavierChacon sang the praises of El Paso voters who turned out by the tens of thousands on this election Tuesday.

Chacon said that by 11:30 a.m., over 200 voters had passed through each of the county’s 170 polling locations. Based on that data, over 34,000 registered voters had cast their ballots in the first four-and-a-half hours of polling.

Eastside locations, such asAmericas High School, had the second-highest numbers for voter turnout. Westside locations were leading in turnout numbers, Chacon said.Chacon estimated that by day’s end, at least 50,000 votes would be cast.
