City Council Approves PSB Master Plan For Northeast EP

EL PASO, Tx- City Council unanimously approved the Public Service Board’s northeast master plan to transformthe area by developing a more than five-square-mile area.

The plan is expected to use smart growth principles such asmixed land uses, creating walk-able neighborhoods, preserving open space and the area’s natural beauty, and bring the area a range of housing opportunities and choices.

Nearly 3800 acres of land in far northeast El Paso, just off of Patriot Freeway near Martin Luther King and McCombs Boulevards, will be home to this major development.

Public Service Board officials say they will now start accepting bids from developers through the end of March.

PSB General Manager, Ed Archuleta tells ABC-7, “It will break the mold, I think, of development and develop a northeast El Paso where people will want to actually move and locate to northeast El Paso … It’s a beautiful part of the city.”

A single developer, which meets all of the requirements, will then be selected by the end of June.

Archuletasaidthat construction is expected to begin early next year.
