‘Smell Of Gas’ Reported As Pressure Relief Valve Vents In Central EP

EL PASO — El Paso Fire Department officials are saying that a ‘pressure relief valve’ vented from a gas main line on Wednesday morning just after 10:30 a.m.

Reports to dispatchers of the smell of gas in areas near Bassett Place and the El Paso International Airport were taken. Gas officials said those residents who complained of strong concentrated odors were advised to open windows to ventilate and allow for air flow to circulate the smell outdoors.

Emergency officials said those who felt faint or had respiratory difficulty should contact 911 and emergency personnel would be dispatched. Dispatchers said reports of ‘gas’ had been received from Boeing, Sioux, and Geronimo.

Radio transmissions indicated fire crews had already responded to several addresses in these areas. More information will be available here on KVIA.com and in our later newscasts as it is released.
