El Paso Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For Child Pornography
A U.S. District judge sentenced an El Paso man to ten years in federal prison on Thursday for possession of child pornography and failing to register as a sex offender.
U.S. District Judge David Briones sentenced 52-year-old John Charles Fox, an aircraft repairman residing in El Paso, to 120 months in federal prison for possessing child pornography as well as failing to register as a sex offender while being employed by the U.S. Military.
Briones also ordered Fox to be placed under supervised release for a period of ten years upon completion of his prison term.
Court documents revealed that Fox was convicted in March of 2002 in the Superior Court of Guam of committing a prohibited sexual act with a minor. In November of 2007, Fox failed to update his registration with the El Paso Police Department.
Fox also did not notify law enforcement of changes in his employment status as a military contractor as well as several visits to Iraq. Authorities discovered that while Fox was at Iraq’s Balad Air Force Base, he was in possession of 22 videos and 14 photographs containing child pornography.
Fox was arrested in Detroit, Michigan on January 22 of this year during a return trip to El Paso from Balad. He pleaded guilty to both federal charges on June 30.
