Perry Activates 90 Troops For Winter Storm Duty

UNDATED (AP) – Governor Rick Perry late today activated 90 Texas Army National Guard troops for weekend winter storm duty in parts of Texas.

An aide to Perry says the troops will be stationed in Lubbock, Amarillo and El Paso. The governor also authorized the use of 30 support vehicles as the freezing weather system moved into Texas.

The National Weather Services says the El Paso area could get several inches of snow by tomorrow. The Department of Transportation reported icy conditions on parts of Interstate Ten in West Texas.
