Golden Knights Down UTEP 67 To 64
EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Jermaine Taylor came off the bench to score 15 points, including three 3-pointers, in Central Florida’s 67-64 victory over Texas-El Paso on Saturday.
Taylor was 3-of-11 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. Mike O’Donnell and Josh Peppers added 13 points apiece.
O’Donnell hit a key 3-pointer with 2:19 remaining to break a 62-62 tie. The Golden Knights (15-5, 4-2 Conference USA) led for the rest of the game. UTEP’s Kevin Henderson had a chance to tie the game on a 3-pointer with four seconds remaining, but his shot bounced in and out of the basket.
The game was tied at 29 at halftime, but the Miners struggled to keep control of the ball. Central Florida had a 24-5 advantage in points off turnovers.
Henderson led the Miners (12-9, 4-3) with 19 points and 15 rebounds, earning his first double-double. Stefon Jackson added 16 points and seven rebounds.
