Columbus Police Chief Voted Out
COLUMBUS, NM – The Police Chief of Columbus, New Mexico has been voted out of his job.
In a unanimous decision, Village Trustees elected to dismiss Chief Paul Armijo on Wednesday in an executive session. The decision came less that a year after Armijo was appointed to the position.
The Mayortells ABC-7the decision was made after Armijo failed top meet certain goals. Among then was the failure to obtain his state police certification.
The former chiefwas also arrested in January on two charges of larceny of a firearm and embezzlement of over $500.
Armijo had no comment.
