County Hospital To Change Name

Sometime this year, county hospital administrators will drop the name R.E.L. Thomason General Hospital and change it to University Medical Center at Thomason, hospital CEO Jim Valenti announced Monday.
Valenti said the name “Thomason” envokes strong images in the community of a dedication to healthcare, and wanted to keep it in the name.
Valenti said the county hospital is the last one in the state of Texas to still be referred to as a General Hospital.
