Team SISD, CISD team up to collect shoes for students

Team SISD and Canutillo ISD employees united Thursday to collect shoes for students in the Socorro Independent School District.

SISD collected more than 200 pairs of shoes for underprivileged students. The shoe drive culminated in a basketball game between the Team SISD and Canutillo ISD superintendents, board members and administrators at Eastlake High School.

Dr. Pedro Galaviz, a superintendent for CISD, said this event is what everyone looks forward to.

“This is about giving, giving back and advocating for kids,” Galaviz said. “And it’s the purpose behind what we do every day as an educator.

All participants in the game donated shoes to benefit SISD children. SISD and Canutillo ISD are united in helping students in El Paso County receive resources they need and to excel in school.
