Chefs versus Stars

need. and oragnization called rebuilding together el paso hosted their first ever chef and stars event. the event helped raise money to repair homes for local-low income ederly, disabled or veteran homeowners. 8 local chefs paired up with 8 local stars to compete in a culinary competition. among the stars – was one of our own… denis olivas. food. drinks. and fundraising! “its called chefs and stars – w are pairing chefs with local celebrities” 8 chefs an 8 celebrities including sports guys, radio dj’s, tv advertising and journalist – paired up for a cook off! besides enjoying the food. the event was geared towards giving back to the borderland. “we are raising money for a really great cause – they are helping out people who have low income to rebuild their home” and the chef’s competing all agreed – helping those in need was more rewarding than winning the best dish. “when i got offered the opportunity to jump into this charity organization the biggest thing was making sure the people were taken care of in el paso” “being a local t el paso it is always good to give back to the community” the volunteer-base organization’s president says there is plenty more work to do. “there is so much need for the people, the poverty is tremendous it is incredible, every salary of the people we help is 16,000 a year which is in the bracket of extremely low.” a rather active weather pattern is in store for the borderland over the next several days as a series of upper disturbances head our way. while weak ridging has resulted in a nice day today…
