Update: Friends remember pregnant teen killed in Sunday’s crash

Update:

Corime Banda was the 19-year-old woman killed in Sunday morning’s crash. Her boyfriend tells us that she was 4 months pregnant, and Monday was the day they were going to find out if they were going to have a boy or girl.

Friends tell us she never had a bad day, and loved her friends unconditionally.

New Mexico State Police say initial investigations reveal that the car the family was traveling in was not experiencing mechanical problems when the driver, Antoinette Harwood, stopped in the middle of the road.

Original post: Friends and family are mourning the loss of the four people killed in a crash early Sunday morning near I-25 and Highway 70. Two adults and two children were killed.

Police say a Hyundai sedan was headed southbound on I-25 near Highway 70 when it came to a stop in while still in the left lane. A Ford sedan in the same southbound lane crashed into the Hyundai, causing the fuel tank of the Hyundai to rupture and catch fire.

Police say 28-year-old Antoinette Harwood of Las Cruces, the driver; her boyfriend’s sister 19-year-old Corime Banda of Las Cruces; and Harwood’s children, 2-year-old Adrian Banda and 1-month-old Layahna Banda of Las Cruces were killed.

The two children were transported to nearby hospitals where they were pronounced dead. Harwood and Banda were pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Ford sedan was airlifted to UMC and is in stable condition.
