25-year-old in critical condition after being hit by a car in east El Paso
UPDATE: El Paso Police have identified the man struck by a car late Tuesday night. This happened around 11 p.m. on the 1400 block of N. Zaragoza in east El Paso. He has been identified as 25-year-old Roman Ponce.
Police said a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant driven by 29-year-old Marisela Reyes was travelling north on Zaragoza. At the same time, Ponce was walking south in the northbound lane. Investigators said Reyes noticed Ponce walking and attempted to avoid him by changing lanes. Ponce then walked in front of Reye’s car and was struck.
As a result of the crash, Ponce sustained serious injuries and was taken to Del Sol Medical Center.
Reyes nor her passengers were injured in the crash and remained on scene. Police said a pedestrian in the roadway is a contributing factor in the crash.

According to emergency dispatchers one person was taken to Del Sol Medical Center with serious injuries.
According to the El Paso Police Department twitter page, Special Traffic Investigators were called out to the scene to investigate around 1 a.m.
El Paso police had Zaragosa Road closed between Don Haskins Drive and Physicians Drive closed off Wednesday morning. It was reopened around 4 a.m.
