Commissioners expect to hire new county administrator Tuesday

County commissioners expect to appoint the county’s new chief administrator Tuesday, according to County Commissioner Vince Perez.

ABC-7’s Andrew J. Polk confirmed Betsy Keller, the interim county administrator, is one of two finalists who met with commissioners Monday afternoon.

Keller took over when commissioners fired Steve Norwood, the former county administrator, in October 2015.

Commissioners met with each finalist for about an hour, Perez said.

“Speaking for myself, both of them are excellent candidates,” said Perez, “I think one of the two will be the county administrator.”

Perez declined to confirm of the names of the finalists.

The El Paso Times reports Roberto Hernandez, the deputy county administrator in Broward County, is one of the finalists.
