Chihuahuas cruise past Reno, 14-4, in final game of series
EL PASO, Texas – The El Paso Chihuahuas pounded out 19 hits in their 14-4 win over the Reno Aces Monday night, which fell three hits short of the team’s single-game record. El Paso scored in six of their eight innings Monday.
Jemile Weeks went 4-for-6 with an RBI and fell a home run shy of the Chihuahuas’ first cycle. Austin Hedges went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and homered for the second consecutive game. Manuel Margot went 2-for-5 with his first Triple-A homer and Ryan Schimpf hit his second longball of the homestand, contributing to his four RBI night. Every Chihuahuas’ position player collected at least one hit, with seven El Pasoans logging multi-hit games.
Carlos Pimentel picked up his first win in the Padres’ organization, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing four earned runs. Daniel Moskos and Jose Dominguez tossed scoreless outings out of El Paso’s bullpen. The Chihuahuas and Aces split the four game series.
