City to add bike lane along Resler Drive

The City of El Paso’s Capital Improvement Department is ready to begin the installation of a bike lane along Resler Drive from Helen of Troy Drive to Belvidere Street, which allow pedestrians and bicycles to ride safely in city streets.

As part of the installation of the bike lanes, nightly lane closures are scheduled to begin this Sunday, April 24th, 2016 from 9 pm to 6 am along the project’s limits. The closures are necessary to allow work crews to install the bike lanes safely. The work schedule and lane closures may be modified to accommodate any unforeseen conditions or events.

The project consists of the development of a buffered bike lane in both directions of travel along Resler Drive from Helen of Troy Drive to Belvidere Street, and the following bicycle facilities are included as part of the project:

A 6-foot or greater bike lane with a 3-foot buffer

Restripe existing travel lanes to accommodate a safe bicycle lane

Intersection striping

Bike boxes and green paint for conflict areas

This $325,800 project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2016, and is part of the City of El Paso’s commitment to enhance El Paso’s regional comprehensive transportation system.
