New El Paso County chief administrator attends first county meeting in new role
El Paso County finally has a new head of its administration in place. Betsy Keller was recognized by County Judge Veronica Escobar at Monday’s meeting at the El Paso County Courthouse in downtown as Keller’s first official meeting in the position.
“It feels great,” Keller said. “I think that there is even more expectations of commissioners court for our department to assist them in carrying out their priorities. I think there is just a lot on our plate that we need to get done.”
Keller has been serving as the interim chief administrator for about six months. Keller had previously been the assistant chief administrator under Steve Norwood. Norwood was the first to ever hold the chief administrator position for the county. He was fired last October after a series of attendance and other disputes with county leaders.
