Biden visits North Carolina, a state he hopes to win in November, to promote internet access

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — President Joe Biden has unveiled $82 million for North Carolina to help connect an additional 16,000 households and businesses to high-speed internet. Biden spoke Thursday in the capital of Raleigh and said his policies are “just getting started” at improving the U.S. economy. Biden’s reelection campaign considers winning North Carolina and its 16 electoral votes a top priority in this year’s presidential election. The Democrat narrowly lost the state in 2020 to then-President Donald Trump, the current Republican front-runner in what will likely be a political rematch in 2024. Biden coupled Thursday’s pitch with a few jabs at Trump.
