Woman believed abducted from La Union by ‘hallucinating’ man with gun
LA UNION, New Mexico -- Dona Ana County authorities put out a public call for help Tuesday to locate a woman who is believed to have been kidnapped by an armed and hallucinating man last week from the La Union area.
Officials indicated Yunuen Huerta was abducted in a 1990’s Ford Aerostar faded green van that fled from sheriff's deputies who tried to pull it over last Thursday morning after the woman was spotted inside the vehicle asking passers-by for help.
"Based on all information gathered over the past few days, our agency believes Huerta to be in danger and we are requesting the public’s help in locating her," said Sheriff's Deputy Perri Marte.
Marte said investigators have identified the van's driver as Danny 'Chango' Facio, whom he described as "very paranoid and hallucinating." A photo of Facio, which can be seen at the top of this article, was released by authorities.
"He is known to use methamphetamine and carry an unknown .45 caliber handgun on his person. Facio is considered to be armed and dangerous due to his recent state of mind," Marte explained.
Recent cell phone activity suggests the abductor and abductee have been in Clovis and Chaparral in New Mexico, as well as across the Texas border in El Paso.
In addition to the Dona Aa County Sheriff's Office, New Mexico State Police and El Paso police were also involved in the search for the pair.
Authorities asked anyone with any information about where to find Huerta, Facio, or the green van to contact the Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority at 575-526-0795, DASO Det. Jessica Gonzalez at 575-525-1911, or call their local police department.
