UPDATE: Police, Fire Details About Stabbing Incident Unclear

By Martin Bartlett

EL PASO — Police and fire response report different details in the stabbing of a woman and her three children Wednesday night in South Central El Paso.

Emergency response crews responded to an apartment complex along the 400-block of Jaffee in South Central El Paso Wednesday night about a stabbing. When officers arrived, they reported finding a woman and three children all with stab wounds to the chest.

The four were treated at the scene and then taken to R.E. Thomason Hospital just before midnight. The similarities in the details of the incident as reported by police and fire departments end there.

Fire department crews were first on the scene and they report that one of the three children placed the 911 call to emergency dispatchers. But police now investigating the case say the call was placed by the woman’s husband.

Fire crews reported the stab wounds of all four to be ‘life-threatening’, but police said the injuries were not.

A police department spokesman said the investigation of who stabbed the group is still ongoing, but they confirmed that no arrests had been made by Thursday evening.

A request for the 911dispatch recording was made to sort out the details, but city officials officials said the process could take several weeks.
