Fire Evacuates Central El Paso Drug Counseling Center

EL PASO — Fire crews extinguished a blaze to a community counseling center on Friday morning. The flames broke out at Inner Recovery Resource Center, 5160 El Paso,just after 8:30and were contained to the break room of the building.

Emergency personnel evacuated around 30 people from the center. Fire officials said the cause of the fire was accidental after a kitchen stove burner that was unintentionally turned on during cleaning ignited some cleaning supplies.

The total damage estimate was $8,000. Seven emergency units responded to the condition II fire. The first call was received at approximately 8:45 a.m. and fire officials said the fire was contained just after 9:00 a.m.

The affected room of the building sustained water and fire damage. No injuries were reported.
