CANUTILLO — A family’s desperate search intensifies as they wait yet another week for clues into their daughter’s disappearance.
Alejandra Salcido, 16,a junior at Canutillo High School, went missing 10 days ago. Her parents — say the day she went missing, they received a phone call from one of their daughter’s friends.
The girl told them Alejandra wanted them to pick her up across the border in Juarez. That was the last time anyone reported hearing from her.
“We want her to call us. We’re not gonna punish her,” said her mother, Ariana Salcido. “We just want toknow what she’s doing and where she is.”
Ariana and her husband say they’ve searched all over Juarez for their daughter. They have family in Juarez, however, no one has heard from her. Their search even took them to the last place they wanted to look: the Juarez morgue.
Her parents believe she went partying in Juárez that day and it’s possible others know something about her disappearance, but are afraid to come forward. “Some of her classmates know something, but they don’t want tocome forward and say something,” Ariana said.
As the days continue to pass by, Ariana’s anxiety only gets worse. “Everytime the phone rings, we think it’s her calling us … we hope it’s her calling us.”
