Chaparral High Lockdown Over

ABC-7 has learned the lockdown at Chaparral High School has been lifted.

Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office says deputies initially received a call about a man with a rifle on campus.

According the deputies, further investigation revealed the man was carrying a metal detector, and not a weapon. Officials say the man could have been part of a crew working on nearby power lines.

The lockdown was lifted Friday around 1:00pm.
