I-10 Traffic Slow But Moving After 7 Hr. Shutdown

A collision between an 18-wheeler and a parcel delivery truck forced the closure of Interstate 10 west near Paisano for about seven hours Tuesday morning.

As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, a barricade blocked access to I-10 west via the Paisano on-ramp, close to where the wreck occurred.

Police say around 12:30 a.m. a FedEx truck jackknifed, causing a semi to collide into it.

The FedEx truck began leaking diesel fuel, and investigators believed the semi had a crack in its fuel tank. Police told ABC-7 the FedEx truck also began leaking a hazardous material. All those factors forced the closure of the westbound lanes of the freeway while emergency workers cleared the wreck and the hazmat situation. Fire and police both sent out 10 crews to the scene.

No injuries were reported.

I-10 reopened at 7 a.m.
