Man Killed In I-10 Crash Identified
A 45-year-old man was killed early Wednesday morning on I-10 East near Hawkins.
El Paso Police said the collision happened at 1:49 a.m. Wednesday. Police investigators said Guillermo Desantiago, 45, of the 1000 block of Richard, was sitting in his stalled truck on the interstate when Roberto Aguirre, 25, of Fort Bliss struck Desantiago. The force of the impact caused Desantiago to be ejected from the truck. He died at the scene.
Aguirre was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Police have arrested and charged Aguirre for Intoxication Manslaughter. At this time police believe speed was not a factor but alcohol and failure to wear a seatbelt are believed to be factors in this fatal crash. Aguirre was booked in to the El Paso County Detention Facility with a bond of $25,000.
