Manhunt Monday 10/18/10: Efrain Velasquez
This week?s MANHUNT MONDAY Most Wanted Fugitive is an individual wanted for a violent offense against a police officer. The target is identified as EFRAIN VELASQUEZ (33) of El Paso, TX.
December 2008: On December 11, 2008 at about 5:30 PM, EPPD Officers were called to a residence in the 5000 block of Beaumont in reference to a subject with a knife. Officers arrived and learned that EFRAIN VELASQUEZ was threatening neighbors while yielding a knife. Officers searched the area & located EFRAIN VELASQUEZ where he proceeded to violently assault a EPPD Sergeant with the knife inflicting several lacerations to the face of the Sergeant. Assisting Officers quickly took VELASQUEZ into custody and placed him under arrest. The Police Sergeant recovered after a short stay at a local hospital.
On July 20, 2009, EPPD Officers returned to VELASQUEZ? residence to execute an arrest warrant for him for failing to show for court for the stabbing incident (Dec. 08?). On that occasion, VELASQUEZ led EPPD Officers on a short foot chase where they caught & arrested him. VELASQUEZ bonded out a short time later.
As of June 2010, VELASQUEZ has failed to show for court for both the AGGRAVATED ASSAULT W/ DEADLY WEAPON charge & the EVADING ARREST charge. The Courts have issued warrants for the apprehension of EFRAIN VELASQUEZ .
VELASQUEZ is said to be violent & schizophrenic. Officers have been advised to **USE CAUTION** should they encounter EFRAIN VELASQUEZ as he remains on the run eluding capture.
