A 16-year-old El Paso-area high school student is has been charged with assault by contact after his alleged bullying of a substitute teacher was caught on cell phone video.

In the video, Vincent Macias, a student at Mountain View High School in the Clint school district, is seen taunting the substitute teacher, Sister Carmen Tirres, who also is a Catholic nun. He towered over her, then gets in her face. He then cornered her as she tried to get away.

The video also showed him go to the back of the room and lift a chair in the air before he goes back toward her, clenching his fists at he her as his friends laugh and say in Spanish, “estoy va pa you tube” – this is going on YouTube.

The I-Team was able to dig up the video after it was removed from the popular website.

“It angers you because the lady seems defenseless, there is no tolerance for that,” El Paso County Sheriff’s spokesman Jesse Tovar said.

Sheriff’s deputies cited Macias for disrupting the class, and he was charged with assault by contact for reaching for a salt shaker and throwing salt in Tirres’s face.

School officials with Clint ISD issued this statement regarding the incident:

“We take this type of matter very seriously, and swift action was taken. School administration have taken the appropriate disciplinary measures.”

Clint officials would not say how the student was disciplined.

Meanwhile, Macias’ classmates had plenty more to say.

“He shouldn’t be doing that to the teacher, you know what I mean?” one student said.

ABC-7 went by the student’s house, but no one was home.

Tirres said she was still upset about the incident. She said despite being scared by the teen she still feels compassion for him.
