Indictment Reveals More About Child Porn Charges Ex-Teacher Faces
More disturbing details have been revealed about the federal case involving a former high school dance teacher accused of child pornography.
Marco Alferez, who worked at several schools in the El Paso and Ysleta school districts over the last few years, has been charged with five federal counts of sexual exploitation of children and possessing and distributing child pornography. Prosecutors in a previous court hearing have said Alferez may have had up to 70 underage victims.
The indictment obtained by ABC-7 has a detailed list of 39 items of computer and photographic equipment found in Alferez’s possession.
Authorities collected several cameras, including a Nikon digital camera, Sony digital camera, Canon camera, a web camera, two mini pin hole cameras about the size of a dime, and a mini spy camera that could be easily hidden.
The indictment also lists several memory cards, flash drives, thumb drives and a number of VHS tapes depicting sexual activity recovered by federal agents.
Some of 107 video tapes had labels “old uppies,” “voyeur, ” “new uppies female names” and one tape labeled, “Vale DE rehearsal upskirt.”
Uppie is a slang term for upskirt photography.
Alferez was fired from his teaching job at Irvin High School earlier this month after EPISD board members voted unanimously to terminate him. An EPISD spokeswoman said Alferez did not appeal his termination.
Alferez remains jailed without bond.
