El Paso Sheriff’s Office Conducts Check On Sex Offenders Ahead Of Halloween
On Tuesday, Oct. 26, El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies and Strike Team Deputies conducted “Operation Halloween Takedown” to check on 50 registered sex offender residences listed to be occupied by registered sex offenders outside the city limits.
These 50 Registered Sex Offenders are currently on Parole or Probation for Sexual Offenses committed against children. Out of the 50 Registered Sex Offenders – only two were found to be out of compliance with their conditions of probation, by displaying Halloween Decorations outside/inside the residence.
The violations will be submitted to the Probation Officer(s) for possible violation of their probation.
The County of El Paso has approximately 300 Registered Sex Offenders. About 187 sex offenders reside in a home within the County and out of the 187 sex offenders approximately 50 sex offenders are currently under supervised probation or parole outside the El Paso City limits. Those areas include Horizon City, Montana Vista, Fabens, Tornillo, Canutillo, San Elizario, Clint & Anthony, Texas.
Some restrictions of the Registered Sex Offenders probation / parole stipulations mandated that they not display any Halloween decorations during their probation / parole status.
Deputies visually inspected the residences of the Registered Sex Offender for any visual of Halloween decorations outside their listed residence.
-If Halloween decorations were visible, contact was made with the Sex Offender & was advised to take down the Halloween Decorations immediately.
-If no contact was made with the Sex Offender, contact would be made with a household member and advise him/her of the reason for the residence check and advise them that the Halloween Decorations need to be taken down as a stipulation of the Sex Offenders probation/parole status.
-The verification was documented on a verification sheet provided within the Sex Offenders file.
