Local Halloween, Fall Festival Events El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Graveyard Haunted House – The El Paso County Sheriff?s Office in partnership with Bassett Place will be hosting the 2nd Annual Graveyard Haunted House. The Graveyard Haunted House will run from October 13 thru October 31, 2010. OPEN: WED. & THURS. 6pm-10pm / FRIDAYS 6pm-11pm / SATURDAYS 2pm-11pm / SUNDAYS 2pm-10PM. Ghost hunts at Museum of history ? El Paso Museum of History, 510 N. Santa Fe, celebrates October as ?Ghost Month at the El Paso Museum of History? with interactive ghost hunts conducted by Ghost Hunters of the Southwest and Texas, (G.H.O.S.T.) 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29. KLAQ Haunted Warehouse ? The 2010 haunting runs Oct. 1-31 at the corner of Lee Trevino and Gateway West. This year?s theme is ?Freak Show.? Doors open at 6 p.m. nightly. Tickets: $10 in advance ($5 children); $15 at the door ($10 children). VIP packages $25 (includes two trips through the warehouse and front-of-the-line access). ?Terror Trail? ? WinkeyDoodles Paintball Adventures, 401 Anthony, in Canutillo, hosts its two-acre Terror Trail Haunted House 7 to 11 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 1-31. The ground?s CQB has been transformed into 19 rooms of terror, and the other fields are metamorphosed into a maze of frights. Ages 10 and older welcome; no costumes may be worn to the trail. Trail not set up for paint balls, designed only for haunted attraction. Admission: $13; discount coupons available. No children under the age 10, and no costumes may be worn to the Terror Trail. The Maize at La Union ? The 30-acre cornfield maze is open for its 11th season through Nov. 7, on at 1101 Highway 28 in La Union, N.M., next to Zin Valle Winery. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. Cost: $9; free for age 5 and under with paid adult ticket. Military discount of $2 with ID. This year?s double maze, ?A Salute to The Troops,? is the largest double maze yet. Also featured during daylight hours are trolley rides, pillow pedal cars, cow train, target practice, a ?duck race,? playground with barnyard, hay bale ?mini maze,? tube slides, U-pick vegetable garden, pumpkin patch and concession and picnic area. Maldonado Maze ? The 19-acre family-owned maze is open through Nov. 7, on Hwy 28 in La Union, N.M. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Open for field trips 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, by appointment only. Food includes roasted corn, hot dogs, hamburgers, gorditas, turkey legs, chilandrinas, soft drinks and a beer garden. A petting zoo, hayrides, slides, pedal car maze, mini mazes, jumping balloons and other attractions also featured. Admission: $9 ($7 ages 6-13; free for age 5 and younger). The farm?s 3rd annual New Mexico Pumpkin festival is 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 9-10, featuring, pumpkin painting, slides, hayrides to the pumpkin patch and live music, storytelling the Pumpkin Glow, and more. The inaugural New Mexico Pecan Festival is 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 30-31, with live music, pecan ice cream, cooking, pecan art, carriage and pony rides, children?s activities and more.
Fort Bliss Halloween ? Fort Bliss will host these Halloween events: ? A Halloween Murder Mystery Dinner Theater interactive whodunit is 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at the Centennial Club. Guest can help solve the mystery with the help of a super sleuth. Come dresses for the occasion; awards for best costume and for solving the mystery. The Monster Bash family costume event is 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Biggs Park, featuring three levels of haunted houses, games, food and drink vendors, music and dancing and family-friendly Halloween movies on a giant outdoor screen. Zombie Walk! ? Dona Ana Arts Council invites individuals to join their fellow ?back-from-the-dead? in 6:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, in the Las Cruces Downtown Mall, preceding the council?s ?Rock ?n Roll Will Never Die? performance. In keeping with nationally recognized ?rules,? zombie attire (include a favorite dead rock star) is mandatory to be included in the walk and all participants are asked to remain in character, communicating only in a manner consistent with zombie behavior, i.e. grunts, groans, moans and the occasional slurred call for ?brains.? Great Pumpkin Race and Harvestfest ? The 14th annual Great Pumpkin Race highlights the events in Cloudcroft, N.M. Saturday, Oct. 30, on Burro Avenue. The all-day events begin at the Mike Nivison Library and include amateur, semi-pro and professional pumpkin rolling events. Also featured is a children?s costume contest and parade on Burro Street. Monster Mash party ? Asylum Comics and Cards, 5360 N. Mesa, Suite L-12, will host its annual Halloween party 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, with free food, drinks and ?comic book heroes.? City Halloween carnivals ? The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department will have Halloween festivities throughout the city at the different Community Centers 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31. Admission is free. Information: 544-0753. The carnivals include friendly haunted houses, costume contests, and other types of family fun. Community centers that will be having Halloween activities are Armijo, Carolina, Chihuahuita, Gary Del Palacio, Galatzan, Leona Ford Washington, Marty Robbins, Multi-Purpose, Nolan Richardson, Veterans, Pavo Real, Rae Gilmore, Seville and San Juan Community Centers.
Funny Face Festival ? Scotsdale Baptist Church, 10015 Lockerbie, will host the family carnival 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, featuring games, hayride, prizes, face painting, candy and more. Halloween Scary Glow Light Run ? El Paso Parks and Recreation Department hosts the run at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at Gary Del Palacio Recreation Center. Call 541-4331 for details.
KLAQ Halloween Parade ? The 24th annual parade starts around 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at Album Park, 3001 Parkwood, and returns there. The parade is 1.9 miles and lasts about one hour. Prizes will be given for ?Rock ?n? Drive? (combination vehicle/human costume), Best Dressed Pedestrian, Business Costume, and High School Band. No entry fee, but entries must display ?KLAQ.? Trick-or-Treat Off the Street ? Bassett Place mall, 6101 Gateway West, hosts its annual safe trick or treat event 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at participating merchants throughout the mall. El Paso Sheriff?s Office?s Halloween Haunted House is open daily Oct. 13-31 at the mall?s Southeast end, featuring movie-quality sets, special effects and interactive performers. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 3 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Special carnival activities and live entertainment 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.
Halloween at the Park ? Smokey Bear Historical Park, 118 Smokey Bear Blvd. in Capitan, N.M. will host Halloween activities for all ages 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, including games, prizes, candy and the Haunted Forest. Dia de los Muertos ? The Calavera Coalition hosts its celebration of Day of the Dead at Old Mesilla Plaza Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 30-31, with food, music, stories, dancing and piatas. Dia De Los Muertos Festival ? Concordia Heritage Association will host a special Day of the Dead festival 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Concordia Cemetery 3700 E. Yandell (between Stevens and Boone). Concordia Cemetery will feature select graves decorated for the occasion with lit candles and other decorations, and booths will be set up with Dia de Los Muertos, paranormal and Halloween items. Fortune tellers also available. Attendees encouraged to dress up in costume. Live music, guest speakers, and more. Admission is $5 ($2 seniors, military and children under 12).
