Winds Beginning To Gust; Will Make Temps Feel Colder

The arctic air is coming in from the east and northeast as temperatures will continue to fall and winds will continue to gust around 40 or so, especially for the west side of town.

We should bottom out around 18 or so tomorrow morning with wind chills in the negative numbers for some west side locations.

Remember, wind chills affect human and animals making it feel colder and removing heat from the body faster, it does not affect pipes and plants. Wind will really crank up again tomorrow – really throughout the entire day with gusts around 50 or so on the west side. With highs tomorrow only in the mid 20’s wind chills will once again fall below zero.

The snow, what we get, (about 1-2 inches through Thursday) will blow around tomorrow so it will be hard to measure anyway. The big story is not really the snow but the bitterly cold air mass and wind chills in negative territory.

One added note: we do expect temps to remain below freezing for some 60-70 hours. The last time this happened was back in December of 1987 when we had 70 hours below freezing.
