Classes Resume Tuesday For Schools; Other Institutions Opening

School will resume Tuesday for the following local school districts at regular start times unless otherwise noted.

UTEP.

El Paso Community College.

El Paso Independent School District. Please send your child with a bottle of drinking water as a precaution. Water fountains will not be available. EPISD will recommend the Board of Trustees submit a waiver to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to excuse two of the four missed school days. The District will then seek input from the Districtwide Educational Improvement Council (DEIC), which includes teacher and staff members, regarding the actual dates for the two make-up days. The make-up dates, as well as the waiver, require approval from the Board of Trustees. Currently, the Instructional Calendar identifies May 30 as one make-up day.

Canutillo ISD.

Socorro ISD. Students and staff are encouraged to bring a bottle of drinking water as a precaution.

Clint ISD. As a precaution, please send your child with a bottle of drinking water until the El Paso Water Utilities lifts the boil water notice.

Ysleta ISD. The Ysleta school district would like to ask your cooperation in providing safe drinking water for your child when he or she returns to school. Please have your child bring bottled water or boiled water in a container, which he or she can drink during the school day. The water fountains in the schools will be shut off in compliance with recommendations from the El Paso Water Utilities. We encourage your child to be dressed warmly.

Paso Del Norte Academy.

San Elizario ISD.

Gadsde ISD.

The La Fe Preparatory School. Due to the possible risk of water contamination after water loss, La Fe Preparatory School officials will provide bottled water to its nearly 200 students. Students at La Fe Preparatory have been encouraged to bring an extra bottle of water with them to class tomorrow. Students and school personnel will also be able to access clean water at the La Fe Culture and Technology Center, which is located next door to the school on La Fe’s South El Paso campus.

Immanuel Christian School

International Business College

Other Institution Openings Several city buildings sustained damage during the winter storm last weak, including leaking pipes, broken pipes and water pressure issues. Beginning, Tuesday, February 8, 2011 the majority of City buildings will re-open with regular business hours.

City Hall – Open -7am – 6pm. Additionally, City Hall will be open this Friday, February 11, 2011.

All parks & recreation centers, senior centers, and pools will be open

All three museums will be open

All Municipal Service Centers will be open

Municipal Court buildings will be open

El Paso Zoo

El Paso Libraries.

Bienvivir Senior Health Services will open all centers for business.

Closed Public Health locations will be open with the exception of the following:

San Juan Clinic- Closed

Montana Vista WIC clinic- Closed

Armijo Library- Closed

Esperanza Moreno Library-Closed

Main Library -Closed

Ysleta Library-Closed
