Mother Sues After Son Allegedly Shot, Killed By Dona Ana Sheriff’s Deputy

A lawsuit has been filed after a teenager was shot and killed by a Dona Ana County sheriff’s deputy last March.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports the mother of 17-year-old Nick Dominguez is suing the deputy, Sheriff Todd Garrison and Dona Ana County for assault, battery, negligence and wrongful death.

New Mexico state police said in a news release Dominguez was shot with a stun gun when he tried to grab the deputy’s gun.

State police said the teen fled, got into the deputy’s vehicle and put it in gear.

The release said the deputy fired, striking Dominguez several times.
