El Paso’s Boil Water Alert Has Been Lifted
Water Utility Rescinds Boiled Water Notice
EL PASO – Effective 10 a.m. this morning, El Paso Water Utilities has rescinded the notice requiring residents to boil water prior to consumption. Tests throughout the service area confirm that the water is safe to drink and meets all drinking water standards. Water service has been restored in all areas; however, residents are asked not to resume outdoor irrigation until Sunday.
“We know that the circumstances during the past week have been difficult,” said Vice President Nicholas Costanzo.” “Homes and businesses throughout the city have experienced water outages and low pressure problems.”
“We appreciate El Pasoans’ cooperation during the water restrictions, and thank them for their patience.”
Some customers remain without service because the valve at the meter box is not turned on or last week’s freezing temperatures have caused plumbing problems. Customers who need assistance with the valve may call the utility’s Customer Service Department for assistance at 594-5500.
Damage to pipes on private properties are the owner’s responsibility. Problems involving service lines and internal plumbing problems should be repaired by a licensed plumber. The utility will work with customers who lost large amounts of water due leaking pipes. To apply for an adjustment, customers should contact the Customer Service Department at 594-5500 after receiving the next EPWU bill.
